In most years, Belmont Stakes weekend would be all about just that— the Belmont Stakes. However, this year, the G1 Ogden Phipps will serve as Big Sandy’s main attraction, serving as the 2017 debut of champion filly Songbird. The now 4yo daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, who has chalked up 11 victories in 12 career starts, will go off the heavy favorite, and should not disappoint.
Based on recent works, Songbird looks poised for a stellar campaign, and we expect nothing less from the brilliant 4yo, who is owned by Fox Hill Farm, and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. Considering her immeasurable talent, and the field she is up against, Nicole sees no reason why Songbird’s big debut won’t be a winning one.
